Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has recently made an announcement for recruitment of 3259 posts via Combined Higher Secondary Level 10+2 Examination 2017. Therefore, it is a great opportunity for 10 + 2 passed students to get government jobs or government jobs in the initial phase of their life.

The examination will be held from 04 to 26-03-2018. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is recruiting for the following posts: Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant, Data Entry Operator, Lower Division Clerk.

The examination will include a computer-based written examination (Tier-I), descriptive paper (Tier II) and typing test / skill test (Tier-III) for Data Entry Operator, Postal Assistant & Sorting Assistant (PA/SA), Lower Division Clerk and Court Clerk.
Tier-I (Computer based Written Examination):
The syllabus mainly emphasize on the following four sections:
1. General Intelligence
2. English Language
3. Quantitative Aptitude
4. General Awareness
Note:
1. Each sections have 25 questions
2. Maximum marks per section is 50
3. Total time: 60 Minutes
4. There will be negative marking of 0.50marks for each wrong answer.
Tier-II (Descriptive Paper):
CHSL 2017 Tier-II paper ‘will be a descriptive paper of 100 marks in pen and paper mode. The duration of the paper will be for one hour (up to 20 minutes reimbursement for the candidates mentioned in paragraph 7 above). This Paper has been introduced to assess the writing skills of candidates who are required in government jobs. The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter / Application writing of approximately 150-200 words. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 per cent. The performance in Tier II would be included for preparing merit.  The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English. Part paper written in Hindi and Part in English will not be evaluated.
Tier-III Examination: 
The examination is tier-III skill test / typing test which will be of a qualifying nature. Skill test / typing test will be in accordance with the provisions given in para 12.2 and 12.3 below. The final merit of the successful candidates would be determined on the basis of total score obtained by them in Tier-I and Tier-II.
Skill Test for Data Entry Operator:
i. Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer.
ii. For post of Data Entry Operator in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG):- A speed Test of not less than 15000 key depressions per hour for data entry work to be ascertained through speed test on Computer.
Typing Test for LDC/ JSA and Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant:
Typing test will be conducted for those candidates who are eligible for Computer Based Examination (Tier-I) and Descriptive Paper (Tier-II). Such typing tests will be conducted in English or Hindi and while applying for the examination candidates will have to indicate their choice / options for skill test medium in the application form. Typing test will be conducted on the computer, provided by the commission or any agency authorized by the agency.
Typing speed for candidates for English medium should be 35 words per minute (w.p.m) and those who choose Hindi medium should have 30 words per minute typing speed. Speed ​​10 minutes will be decided on the accuracy of writing on the text path given to the computer. VH / OH (Suffer by Cerebral Palsy) and OH will be allowed to provide distortion in writing (with 40% disability and above) 20 minutes per minute.

Mode of selection: Candidates will be shortlisted for Tier-III examination on the basis of their performance in Computer Based Written Examination (Tier-1) and Descriptive Examination (Tier-II). Candidates who are interested in computer-based written examination (Tier-I) and descriptive letter (Tier-II) on the basis of their performance will be recommended to qualify for the skill test / typing test (Tier-III) for appointment by the Commission. Allocation of candidates will be done for the user department on the basis of their qualifications and their options made by them.
So, approximately we have two and half months to prepare for the examination. We recommend you all to follow following four books exclusively to prepare for this examination for 1st 60 days. Then next 10-15 odd days, one should practice past years’ question papers or any online mock test.
